Abstract
The surface quality of0.72~0.82C φ5.5 mm wire for steel cord af tyre produced by different producers at home and abroad was tested and examined. The results showed that surface of wire produced at moet producers has no de- carburized layer and average thickness of oxidizing scale layer was ≤7.7 μm with thickness difference ≤1.13 μm
in which the Fe
3
O
4
content was equal to FeO content to be available to remove scale of surface
and only there wa decarburi- zed layer with depth 0.05~0.10 mm for wire produced at very few of producers
and average oxidizing scale layer was 12.47 μm with thickness difference ≤1.84 μm.
