The phases of clogging of nozzle during concasting of 409L stainless steel(0.009~0.011C

0.0074~0.0112N)melted by EAF-AOD-VOD refining has been analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM)and X- ray diffraction method. The results indicated that phases of clog in nozzle consisted of TiO₂ and metal;and with over strong argon stiring after titanium wire feeding the amount of TiO₂ inclusion obviously increased due to reoxidization of molten steel
it led to clog being obvious thickening. The clogging of submerged entry nozale decreased by using soft argon stiring after titanium feeding to remove TiO₂ inclusion in molten steel and avoiding reoxidization of cast strand.
