Water modeling experiments and numerical simulation for flow control device of24 t tundish at Chongqing Steel have been carried out to study influence of turbulence inhibitors with different size on fluid flow behavior by measuring residence time distribution (RTD ) curves and removal rate of inclusion s. The results showed that it was available to increase response time of nozzle and average residence time
raise plug flow volume by 30%
decrease dead zone volume by 50% and imp rove fluid flow behavior in tundish by using suitable turbulence inhibitor and existing dam combination.
