In order to enhance the service life of hollow steel for rock drill stem
the odd number side section shape hollow steel has been designed. Compared the tensile
compressive and bending resistance of ortho-six
seven
eight and nine side polygon hollow steels
it indicated that the odd number side hollow steels have better fracture and bending resist- ance than that of the even number hollow steels. The numerical simulation of drawing forming process of ortho-seven- side polygon hollow steel with roling drawing has been carried out
the results showed that the forming shape met the require- ment of technical standard
and the distribution of stress and temperature was uniform
it shall be available for manufacture of odd number side hollow steel stem.
