The application of static soft reduction technolog)- during production of 240 mm x 240 mm cast bloom of bearing steel GCrl5 by Concast caster at Beiman Special Steel is presented. Applied results showed that with liquid steel overheat 20 ~ 30℃

after soft reducing with total reduction in height 7 mm at the region of 3 m length bloom
reduction in height of 3 sets reduction roller respectively being 3 mm

the V- shaped segregation and center shrinkage cavity obviously improved and the center average carbon segregation index of bloom decreased to 1.07 ~ 1. 13 from 1. 17 ~ 1. 26.
