The effect of carbides pile-up degree in high speed steels W6Mo5Ci4V2 (M2) and W9Mo3Ci4V (W9) on mechanical properties and workability of steels has been studied. Results showed that with increasing carbides pile-up degree in steels
the hardness
tensile and yield strength of steel M2 and W9 increased
but the impact toughness and flexural strength and cold drawing ability of steel decreased. The effect of carbides pile-up degree on red hardness and hardness of quenched and tempered high speed steels was minor.
