Steel fluid flow behavior in a CSP mold for 60 mm thin slab casting with nozzle submerged depth 220~310 mm
downward angel of outlet -30°~-60°
casting speed 4.2~6.0 m/min has been studied by 1:1 scale water modeling. At cast speed 4.2~5.0 m/min
for nozzle with double side hole
impact depth of CSP mold fluid flow was 850~ 1010 mm; there were 3 stagnant in flow field and the fluctuation of liquid level was unsteady; effect of nozzle downward angel on fluctuation near mold narrow side and nozzle was very obvious
effect of casting speed on fluctuation at center of mold and middle of narrow side was larger
and effect of submerged depth on fluctuation near nozzle rather large.
