Numerical simulation of liquid flow field by using fluid dynamics analysis software Fluent has been carried out that the electromagnetic force exerts on submerged entry nozzle for round billet casting to make the liquid flow out of model nozzle in spiral condition and stir the liquid steel in mold. Results show that the flow swirling in nozzle is available to improve liquid flow field
effectively reduce liquid dashing depth
enlarge reversed flow in meniscus area and heat transfer up to meniscus and increase activity of liquid level and effectiveness of molten slag at liquid surface.
