The application of dynamic soft reduction technology ( solid-phase ratio of bloom in soft reduction region- 40% ~96%
total reduction- 8. 3 ~ 12. 5 mm) in process of production for 285 mm X 325 mm bloom of bearing steel GCrl5 at Xingtai Steel is presented. Results show that with molten steel superheating 20 ~ 30 °C
casting speed 0. 65 〜0. 75 m/min
after implementing dynamic soft reduction the percentage of rating ≤1. 5 for center porosity and rating 0 ~ 1. 5 for center line shrinkage increase respectively from original without implementing soft reduction 49. 45% and 63. 74% to 85. 0% and 87. 5%
the carbon segregation index decreases from 0. 875 〜1.390 to 0. 872 ~ 1. 086
and the center segregation and V-shape segregation improve obviously.
