Hot-coil box is an apparatus located between roughing mill and finishing mill at hot continuous rolling production line to coil and uncoil the intermediate stripe plate. Hot rolled 300 series and 400 series stainless steel strips with 2 ~5. 2 mm thickness have been successfully produced by using hot coil-box at Taigang 2250 hot strip production line with overcoming difficulties about equipment and process to increase surface quality of strip and production efficiency. The advantages and disadvantages for using hot coil-box in hot stainless steel strip rolling process and the problem occurred in rolling production such as scratch and hot coil-box marks of strip are discussed in this article.
