Abstract
The three-dimensional flow field
concentration field and temperature field of a 35 t 6-strand tundish for 12-strand 150 mm x 150 mm continuous machine at Xuanhua Steel have been studied by using numerical simulation and the optimum flow control device slag dam with hole diameter 120 mm
horizontal deviation angle 5° and vertical angle of elevation 5° is obtained. Application Results show that the flow field in structure-optimized tundish improved obviously
the flow behavior of each strand of tundish becomes consistent
the impacting of liquid on 6-th strand stopper is alleviated
the temperature difference between each strand decreases to 4 K from original 10 K and the continuous casting time increases to 26 h from original 20 h.
