Taking a T-shape tundish for 6-strand 150 mm x 150 mm casting billet at Tangshan Steel as an object of study
3-dimension numerical simulation and optimization on fluid field of liquid in tundish have been carried out by using commercial software ANSYS. The flow characteristics of liquid in tundish and flow mode of liquid in tundish setting flow control devices are studied. Results show that setting reasonable blocking dams and guide holes are available to improve the metallurgical effect of tundish; three guide holes respective with diameter (mm) - 72
