The test of pre-desulfurization technology7 of a 300-t top and bottom combined argon blowing ladle has been carried out by using a water model with geometric similarity 1 :5. 75 water model. Results show that with same total gas flow
as compared with single blowing the top and bottom combined blowing could effectively increase the pre-slagging speed
and as flow rate of top-bottom argon blowing is 50 : 50
the stirring condition is best ; based on the water model test results the top-bottom combined argon blowing installation for the 300 t ladle is established to realize the liquid pre-slagging desulfurization
the liquid average desulfurization ratio is 22. 29%
after refining the average end [S]is 0. 004% and the (FeO + MnO) decreases to 3. 48%.
