0. 05N) at 500 〜1 000 ℃ air atmosphere has been studied by weight gain method
and an analysis on morphology of surface oxide film of sample is carried out by scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS). It is found that at 700 〜1 000℃ the oxidation resistance of the new high silicon heat resistant steel TD305B is better than that of the traditional heat resistant austenite steel SUS310S
besides at elevated temperature the matri
x of steel easily reacts with oxygen to form a protective oxide film including FeO • Cr
2
O
3
and FeCr
2
O
4
- NiCr
2
O
4
because the new steel TD3O5B has a definite amount silicon
a layer of SiO
2
is formed at distance of 20 μm from surface to inhibit further oxidation
as a result the steel TD3O5 B has a better oxidation resistance at elevated temperature.
