The metallographic phase was observed by the metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope were used to observe ; The hardness testing was observed by the hardness tester; Hie flatigue life was verified by the idling fatigue test and high-speed cutting of copper. Hie results show that the quenching at high temperature for shorting time is the best process for RM80 steel during high-speed cutting;the best quenching temperature range is from 1150 ℃ to 1160 ℃
the material with the carbide fully dissolved and even small martensite ;the best tempering temperature is 640 ℃
the metallographic phase of the material is tempering sorbite. Through high-speed cutting experiments
the fatigue performance of the back material of steel RM80 increased by about 30%.
