In condition of commercial production at Maanshan Steel
with electric current parameter within limits 400 ~ 510 A and 2.0 ~ 2.5 Hz
the distribution characteristics of magnetic induction intensity in concasting mould with M-EMS for 8380 mm round bloom has been measured by using Gauss-meter. Hie results showed that the curve of magnetic induction intensity along vertical direction of mould center had a peak shape and the maximum value was at M-EMS stirrer center and a distance 530 mm from top of mould; and it increased gradually from center to edge at mould horizontal section. The magnetic induction intensity at meniscus was about 10% of that maximum value at mould middle section. Hie analysis shows that in the present production conditions at Maanshan Steel the stirring intensity with using electric current parameter 400 A/2.5 Hz is not enough.
