the effect of different flow control device in 73 t tundish for two-strand 238 mm x 1 500 mm slab casting on flow field has been studied by using 1 : 3 water model in order to get optimum flow control device combination and optimizing dam position and height. Water modelling results show that the better flow control device combination in tundish for two-strand casting is to use double-decker turbulence inhibitor and dam
and for dam with 152 mm height and distance from long nozzle 685 mm
as compared with original tundish structure the average resident time increases by 53. 5 s and the dead area decreases from 27. 9% to 13. 1%
it is better to improve the flow status of liquid in tundish and favourable to uniform the temperature of liquid and remove the inclusions in liquid floating off.
