Numerical Simulation of Effect of Electrode Filling Ratio on Electroslag Remelting Process
The distribution of magnetic field and Joule heat field of electrode
slag and remelting ingot system during electroslag remelting (ESR) process is obtained by using finite element software ANSYS
and the effect of electrode filling ratio 0. 3 ~ 0. 7 in three-dimension ESR process coupling magnetic field and Joule heat field on temperature field
velocity field and magnetic field of ESR system is simulated and analyzed by using calculated fluid dynamics software FLUENT. Results show that with increasing electrode filling ratio
the max values of velocity and turbulent kinetic energy increase
but the variation ratio of velocity decreases ; the difference of max turbulent kinetic energy between electrode filling radius ratio 0. 3 and 0. 5 is as twice as that between electrode filling ratio 0. 5 and 0. 7 ; with increasing electrode filling ratio the max temperature value is not monotonous variation.
