I. Publication Scope & General Requirements
Special Steel mainly publishes articles that are innovative, scientific, cutting-edge, or could be practical guidance in the field of Special Steel. The journal is open to both domestic and worldwide authors and readers. Columns include Special Steel Reviews, Product Development, Refractory for Special Steel, Smelting and Solidification Processes, Deformation and Phase Change Phenomena, as well as application and service considerations. Manuscripts should have clear views, sufficient arguments, detailed data, clear structure, and logical text, and must not involve state secrets and must comply with national laws and regulations.
II. Requirements for Manuscripts
1. Title: Titles should be concise and precise and should not use abbreviations;
2. Abstract: The abstract should include the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the article, and the use of subheadings for structured labeling is recommended. A Chinese abstract should be generally 300~500 words, and an English abstract should be 400~600 words or longer. Authors are encouraged to expand the English abstracts for international dissemination purposes. Authors can provide additional information on the research background, research content, etc.
3. Keywords: 3~8 keywords are appropriate;
4. Image quality: the electronic version of the article is published in color, and the printed version is in grayscale generally; please ensure that the images are legible even in grayscale mode; screenshots are not accepted;
5. References: Authors should cite at least 15 articles (including ≥5 in English) and at least 30 references if it is a review article. Two-thirds of the references must be published within the last 5 years to ensure the timeliness and novelty of the citation.
6. Statement at the end of the article: If the research results have received awards or are funded by national, provincial, or ministerial funds, the funding project’s name and serial number should be indicated at the end of the article. If it is not relevant, authors can choose not to state at the end of the article.
III. Submission Methods
In order to promote the digitalization of Special Steel and facilitate authors in submitting and checking manuscripts, and facilitate experts to review, the journal adopts an online system.
1. Read before Submission
1.1 The manuscript should be revised according to the Journal Manuscript Template and Requirements in the Journal Download Center before submission. Please refer to the recent publication of Special Steel for any incomplete information;
1.2 Information of all named authors should be provided accurately and completely when submitting the manuscript on the submission system; articles of master's students without senior titles should indicate: the name of supervisor, mailing address, job position (title), postal code, etc. Author institutions (including secondary institutions) should be written in the full name;
1.3 Please fill in the Chinese classification number TF or TG, (link to the Chinese Library Classification: http://www.ztflh.com/), usually in the "TF-Metallurgical Industry" subsection, or "TG-Metallurgy and Metal Technology" subsection in the "Industrial Technology" section;
1.4 The manuscript must be an original article that has not been published in an official journal in China or worldwide. The journal strictly prohibits multiple submissions partly or as a whole, or submissions simply translating a previously published article into different languages. Once the above situation is found, the manuscript will be treated as withdrawn and the author's institution and relevant journals in the field of material metallurgy will be notified. Manuscripts from the authors involved will not be accepted in the future;
1.5 The editorial office can make technical or wording amendments to the manuscript and any amendments involving a change in meaning will only be done with the author's consent.
2. Submission method
2.1 Search the official website of Special Steel or enter the domain name http://www.specialsteeljournal.com and log in to the website of Special Steel. Click on "Author Login" and go to "Author Dashboard".
2.2 For the first-time online submission, authors need to register and obtain a username and login password. The system will automatically send the successful registration information to the e-mail address provided. This username and password will be used for future manuscript submissions and inquiries (username and password can be changed after login). If you forget your username and password, you can contact the editorial office to make inquiries. The author who logs in or registers at the time of submission is considered by the system as the corresponding author and will be contacted for matters concerning the manuscript. This corresponding author can be different from the corresponding author noted in the footer of the first page of the article.
2.3 It is best to open the electronic file of the manuscript you wish to submit in advance before online submission so that you can copy and paste the article title, abstract, keywords, etc. into the submission system when filling in the information about the manuscript to reduce the workload of texting.
2.4 Click the "Guided Submission (Recommended)" or "List Submission" button of "Submit New Manuscript" with a single click to enter the submission system of the journal. After reading the Submission Confirmation Form and agreeing to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement, fill in the manuscript information item by item and then upload the electronic file (Word or PDF format) of the manuscript. After verifying the manuscript information and confirming that it is correct, click "Submit Now", and then the system will show the interface of "Submitted Manuscript Successfully". Afterward, the system will automatically send you a notification of receipt of your manuscript to the e-mail address you provided during registration, informing you of your manuscript number and other information.
3. Online Checking of Manuscripts
3.1 Authors will be notified of the results of the manuscript review within 2 months, during which time they are not allowed to submit the manuscript elsewhere. Only a few manuscripts may take longer to be reviewed. If the author decides to re-submit the manuscript to another journal or withdraw it, please inform the editorial office before proceeding. Authors will be notified promptly after the editorial office decides to accept the manuscript;
3.2 Search for the official website of Special Steel or enter the domain name http://www.specialsteeljournal.com and log in to the website of Special Steel. Click on "Author Login" and go to "Author Center".
3.3 Click on the different buttons under "My Submissions" to see the basic information and current processing status of your submitted manuscript.
4. Online Revision Methods
4.1 After the editorial office receives the manuscript from the author, the manuscript will go through three review stages. During the review process, the editor in charge will give feedback to the author via the journal's website on the manuscript's request for revision and will send a reminder email to the e-mail address provided, so that the author can revise and resubmit the revised manuscript in a timely manner.
4.2 Please indicate the manuscript serial number of the revised manuscript, along with a description of what changes were made. A copy of each revision note and revision manuscript should be kept to prevent loss. The revised manuscript should be discussed by the editorial office before it can be confirmed for publication.
4.3 The deadline for revision is 10 days. The editorial office will regard the date the author returns the revised manuscript as the submission date. If an extension is needed, please contact the editorial office in advance; otherwise, the editorial office reserves the right to reject the manuscript after 30 days;
IV. Fees
1. Authors need to pay the page fee (including expert review fee): when the page is less than 5 pages, the page fee is 1600 yuan/article; If the layout is > 5 pages, the layout fee will be increased by 300 yuan/page on the basis of 1600 yuan/page. The editorial department sends 1-3 copies of Special Steel magazine; Except for the page fee, no other fees such as review fee shall be charged to the author.
2. The standard remuneration is 300 RMB per article, along with 1-3 printed copies of the current issue.
V. Agreement on "Copyright Transfer Agreement and Author's Statement"
After the paper is accepted by the editorial office of Special Steel, all authors of the paper must sign the "copyright transfer agreement and author statement" before it can be officially published. The title of the work in the "Copyright Transfer Agreement and Author Statement" shall be consistent with the name of the editorial office. The "Copyright Transfer Agreement and Notice" can be downloaded from the Download center of our official website.
The author shall complete the "Copyright Transfer Agreement and Author Statement" within 15 days after receiving the acceptance notice. If the printing and publication are not completed according to the stipulated time, the editorial office has the right to cancel the acceptance, and the page fee paid by the author will not be returned.

VI. Withdrawal of Manuscript and Confirmation of Clear Proof
1. Retraction
1.1 When the author proposes to withdraw the manuscript before acceptance, the author shall submit a written application to the editorial office by leaving a message or email on the official website, and the editorial office will withdraw the manuscript according to the author's requirements.
1.2 When the author proposes to withdraw the manuscript after acceptance and before printing, he/she shall submit a written withdrawal application signed by all the authors to the editorial office and pay a review fee of 1000 yuan. The editorial office will assist in handling the retraction and refund the page fee.
1.3 No retraction is allowed when the manuscript has been printed in book form.
2, Clear proof confirmation
The editorial department will upload the clean proof to the official website and send the notice to the author's email address. The author shall confirm the clean proof within 10 days after receiving the notice, sign and upload it after reading through. If the author fails to complete the clean proof within the prescribed time and the publication is affected, the editorial office has the right to cancel the employment and the page fee paid by the author will not be returned.
